Action on Prejudice

Funded by the Scottish Government, it is a virtual one-stop shop for young people and those who work with young people to find facts, videos, research, learning tools and other resources focused on challenging discrimination and hate crime as well as promoting diversity and inclusion.

Adult Learning 

Part of West Lothian Council's service to help adults become more confident with their: reading, writing and numbers: everyday literacy and numeracy skills, or who is experiencing hearing loss and wishes to learn lip-reading skills. Provide a free service with access to workshops, short courses and ongoing individual learning.

Child Bereavement UK 

Helps support grieving families and children when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement. Support line, resource material, extensive links.

Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre

Making the internet a safer place. Useful information.

Childline

Counselling centre for children and young people suffering problems e.g. bullying, sexual and physical abuse, feelings, body image, relationships, families, home, school, college and work. Has a Helpline 0800 1111 and supplies links to other agencies.

Supports Scottish families under stress, protect children from harm and neglect, help them recover from abuse and promote children's rights and interests.

Citizens Advice Bureaux Service in Scotland

Cue and Review Recording Service

Scottish registered charity that transcribes print magazines and newspapers into audio formats for the benefit of visually-and-reading-impaired people. Now includes 'Alexa Enable to access Talking Newspapers'.


Cybersmile Foundation 

Offers support to those affected by cyberbullying and their families, as well as educating people of all ages to respect the dangers of the internet and to consider their peers’ feelings whilst interacting online. 

Deaf Action 

Provides a range of services to people in Scotland with sensory support needs, including those who are blind, partially sighted, deaf, deaf blind and hard of hearing.

 

Donaldson's School

The School provides a Skills Based Education for Differently-Abled Children & Young People aged 5 to 18 whose main barriers to learning are communication difficulties arising from various additional support needs such as Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, deafness, hard of hearing and language disorders.

Eating Disorders In Males: National Centre for Eating Disorders

Information and advice about male eating disorders, definitions, signs and symptoms, treatments, getting support including support groups. 

Eczema Outreach Support (EOS) 

Eczema Outreach Support offers supports for families of children & young people affected by eczema in the UK. Located in Linlithgow, Scotland.

Epilepsy Scotland

Offers a range of services across Scotland to help support people with epilepsy and their families. Can offer support remotely, one to one, and in groups. Aims is to help people better understand their condition and support them to make positive changes.

National provider of free information, advice and support for anyone affected by problem gambling. 

Get Safe Online

Provides advice on how to protect yourself, your computers and mobiles device and your business against fraud, identity theft, viruses and many other problems encountered online. Topics including passwords, oversharing, cyberbullying, online dating and online gambling.

Grief Encounter: helping children through bereavement 

Helps bereaved children and their families deal with the loss of either a parent or sibling by providing support, information and advice. Website has different zones for kids, teens and adults (including school teachers). Resources included in each zone.

Hope UK

A drug education charity which works to equip young people to make drug-free choices (including legal substances like alcohol and cigarettes) by working with groups and individuals in both formal and informal settings.

HorseBack UK

Using horsemanship and outdoor activities, deliver personal development programmes that encourage participants to acquire new coping strategies, life skills and build lasting resilience. Participants include service personnel and veterans suffering from life-changing injuries and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Schools Development Program aimed at school pupils with an emphasis on participation and personal development.

Linlithgow Link 

Provide support through social and community activity to those who are isolated by illness, age, or infirmity. E.g. volunteers supply car service to hospitals, befriend housebound people and young mothers, provide social activities for the frail elderly and assisting in running the local monthly Caring Café for those affected by Dementia.

LYPP supports the young people of Linlithgow and the surrounding areas in all aspects of their development. LYPP has 3 main areas of work which are co-ordinated from their office, within the ‘Lounge’ youth centre. These areas are Schools Work, Drop In/Youth work at Lounge and youth work in Bridgend.  

Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG)

Information, advice and emotional support for people living with cancer.

Mediawatch-UK 

Wants to make the media work better for children and families. Activities fall into two main categories:

  • Raising awareness of potentially harmful and socially irresponsible media
  • Educating on making positive media choices

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) United Kingdom

National Youth Agency  

The National Youth Agency's is the national body for youth work in England supporting young people through their work. Online information for youth workers.

Provides information about health and well being, health services, support and social services provided by the National Health Service for the general public in England.

Provides services and support to vulnerable children, young people and families

Parentline Scotland

ParentLine Scotland (08000 28 22 33) - a free confidential helpline operated by Children First for anyone caring for or concerned about a child in Scotland.

Partners in Advocacy

Provide independent advocacy for individuals living in Scotland with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorders, physical disabilities and people over 65. Also provide independent advocacy to children and young people who are living with mental health issues, additional support needs and learning disabilities.

Penumbra

Provides support across Scotland for adults and young people towards mental wellbeing.

Quiet Waters 

Provides confidential counselling and support based on Christian insight and values for the people of Central Scotland. Available to all irrespective of faith, cultural background, ethnic origin, values or lifestyle. Was Crossline Central Charitable Trust.

Rape Crisis Scotland 

Provides a national rape crisis helpline and email support for anyone affected by sexual violence, no matter when or how it happened.

Richmond's Hope 

Provides support for children and young people aged 4-18 years who have been bereaved. Project and drop in centre in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Range of resources / information leaflets available to download. 

Riding for the Disabled

Provides disabled people with the opportunity to ride and/or to carriage-drive to benefit their health and well being. 

rock trust 

Services range from long-term support for young people with very complex needs, such as those leaving care, to emergency support for young people in crisis, to a helping hand for young people who are simply struggling to access an expensive and competitive rental market. Help young people to progress in their lives so that they can overcome personal barriers and move on from homelessness for good.

S.M.I.L.E Counselling

Aim to help young people who are struggling with how they feel, are having problems with family or school, anxiety, depression, anger or just need to talk to someone, but find it difficult to talk to those closest to them. Website includes apps and videos covering a range of topics

United Christian Broadcasting (UCB) Prayerline

Victim Support Scotland  

Provides free, confidential support and information, practical help, emotional support and guidance through the criminal justice system. for victims, witnesses and their family members affected by crime across Scotland.

VOCAL - support for carers in Edinburgh and Midlothian 

VOCAL supports and empowers unpaid carers in Edinburgh and Midlothian through individual support, information, training and access to services.

Waverley Care

Offers services providing practical and emotional support to people living with HIV or Hepatitis C in Scotland. Support groups, one-to-one mentoring, social outings, education sessions, and workshops.
