Provides support for carers and their families to give carers a break from caring. 

Dementia Helpline Scotland 

The 24 hour Dementia Helpline is a freephone Scottish service providing information, signposting and emotional support to people with the illness, their families, friends and professionals.

Guide for Veterans

This Guide for Veterans contains resources that provide Mental Health, Housing and Financial support available to veterans / ex-servicemen. It also provides information about 'Jobs and Training for Veterans', 'Scholarships for Disabled Veterans', 'Help for Injured Veterans', 'Help for Blind Veterans' and 'Help for Carers of Injured Veterans'. Plus 'Information on Armed Forces Pensions'.

Health and Care Professions Council (hcpc)

Health and Care Professions Council keeps a register of health and care professionals. Is the regulator of the social work profession and social work education in England. They protect the public by requiring high standards of education, conduct and practice of all social workers. Email available through website.

Kinship Care Advice Service for Scotland

Provides advice and information to Kinship Carers including: practical and emotional support, financial issues. The circumstances for Kinship Care can be different: arrangement can be short term, giving the birth parents an occasional short break. Or it might be a temporary arrangement while the birth parents get back on their feet. Sometimes it is long term or even permanent. Every situation is different. The arrangement might be informal, it might involve the social work department, or it may be that a court or a children’s hearing has played a role. 

Linlithgow Link 

Provide support through social and community activity to those who are isolated by illness, age, or infirmity. E.g. volunteers supply car service to hospitals, befriend housebound people and young mothers, provide social activities for the frail elderly and assisting in running the local monthly Caring Café for those affected by Dementia.

NHS (National Health Service)

Provides information about health and well being, health services, support and social services provided by the National Health Service for the general public in England.

Information, advice and where to get support for anyone who needs help with day-to-day living because of illness or disability carers operated by the NHS. It includes: introduction to care and support; help from social services and charities; care services, equipment and care homes; money work and benefits, care after a hospital stay; support and benefits for carers; guidance for young carers; power of attorney.

Parenting across Scotland: information and support for families in Scotland

Aims to support families in Scotland in bringing up their children. Provides information and support for parents and practitioners, carrying out research and influencing policymakers.

Scottish Autism

Helps those diagnosed with autism to lead full and enriched lives and become valuable members of the community they live in. Former name Scottish Society for Autism. Email available through website.

VOCAL - support for carers in Edinburgh and Midlothian 

VOCAL supports and empowers unpaid carers in Edinburgh and Midlothian through individual support, information, training and access to services.
