Bereavement Support Group

A support group for bereaved people supported by the Pastoral Care Team at St Michael's Parish Church, Linlithgow. For information telephone the church office on 01506 842188 or check St Michael’s Parish Church website.

Pet charity providing practical support and information for owners. Pet bereavement support including children with pets.

Brake

UK-wide provider of support services to people who have been bereaved or seriously injured in a road crash, as well as the family, friends and professionals supporting them. The helpline and support literature provide emotional support, practical information (teaching road safety, fleet safety), and signposting.

Care for the Family  

Care for the Family is a national charity which aims to promote strong family life and to help those who face family difficulties.

Carers of West Lothian 

Information, advice and support for all unpaid carers and people with disabilities.

Child Bereavement UK 

Helps support grieving families and children when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement. Support line, resource material, extensive links.

Compassion in Dying

Provides a free information line, publications and resources to help people prepare for the end of life. How to talk about it, plan for it, and record their wishes. Compassion in Dying supports the uptake of existing legal rights and is not involved in Dignity in Dying’s campaign for assisted dying.  

Compassionate Friends 

Support and friendship for bereaved parents and their families by those similarly bereaved.

Cruse Bereavement Care 

Offers support, advice and information to children, young people and adults when someone dies.

Offers free information and advice, support and counselling to anyone who has been affected by a death

Grief Encounter: helping children through bereavement 

Helps bereaved children and their families deal with the loss of either a parent or sibling by providing support, information and advice. Website has different zones for kids, teens and adults (including school teachers). Resources included in each zone.

Held in Our Hearts

A Scottish charity providing baby loss counselling and peer support to families, with over 40 years’ experience of offering compassionate bereavement care in the community. Held In Our Hearts was formerly known as Sands Lothians until 2020.

Neil's Hugs Foundation

This West Lothian based charity is for friends and family who have lost a loved one to suicide. They offer support group facilitation, one to one listening via telephone and face to face plus sign posting to support networks.  

NetHymnal

If you are planning on having hymns at a funeral this website has the words and music to hymns to help you make your choice.

Quiet Waters

Provides confidential counselling and support based on Christian insight and values for the people of Central Scotland. Available to all irrespective of faith, cultural background, ethnic origin, values or lifestyle. 

Richmond's Hope 

Provides support for children and young people aged 4-18 years who have been bereaved. Project and drop in centre in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Range of resources / information leaflets available to download. 

Sanctuary First 

Seeks to be a safe place where people can engage with their search for meaning and faith without feeling overwhelmed or trapped in anyway by another person. In their 'Encourage Me' section there is a section on dealing with bereavement. There are a number of other identified areas where people may be seeking helping in dealing within the encourage me section e.g. feeling overwhelmed, needing guidance and direction. 

SANDS Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity 

Supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby and promoting research to reduce the loss of babies' lives. Helpline 0808 164 3332.

The Bridge

The Bridge Community Project located in Livingston seeks to improve the everyday wellbeing of the people of West Lothian by providing practical and relational suppor, including: Counselling Services, Financial Wellbeing and Stepping Stones to Wellbeing - exploring and learning about topics such as: mental wellbeing; the impact of bereavement and loss; practical skills for life.

Tommy's

The team of Tommy's midwifes provide a pregnancy information service and support line for parents and families who lose a baby, experience premature birth and to help everyone have a safe and healthy pregnancy.

United Christian Broadcasting (UCB) Prayerline 

Telephone team that will pray with you and for you. or you can submit your prayer request by filling in an online form.
