Adult Learning 

Part of West Lothian Council's service to help adults become more confident with their: reading, writing and numbers: everyday literacy and numeracy skills, or who is experiencing hearing loss and wishes to learn lip-reading skills. Provide a free service with access to workshops, short courses and ongoing individual learning.

Website which provides information on rights and the law in England and Wales.

BEMIS - Black and Ethnic Minorities in Scotland

The Black and Ethnic Minorities in Scotland organisation promotes inclusion, democratic active citizenship, recognition of diversity, human rights education, and wider representation. Website lists projects and initiatives, events and publications.

Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre

Making the internet a safer place. Useful information.

Child Maintenance Service 

Government website on how to manage your child maintenance service case. Includes: how to pay, if a parent does not pay, reportable changes, disagreements about parentage, complaints and appeals. 

Christians Against Poverty (CAP)

A Christian charity that works through a network of local churches across the UK to give free help to anyone in debt. In addition to free debt help, there are job clubs, help to overcome a habit or dependency (release groups) and CAP Money Courses.

Citizens Advice Bureaux Service in Scotland

Provide assistance with legal problems, including debt and consumer issues, benefits, housing, legal etc. Email address on main site but not for contacting them re problems, however check local office info.

Neighbourhood and Home Watch Network (England and Wales)

Aim is to bring neighbours together to create strong, friendly, active communities where crime and anti-social behaviour are less likely to happen.

Neighbourhood Watch Scotland  

Neighbourhood Watch is a community led initiative to bring local people together to address crime and other community safety issues. Neighbourhood Watch groups often liaise with the local police, the local authority and other agencies.

Phone Book - The 

BT online telephone directory which enables the search for business and individuals' home phone numbers, addresses and locations.

Rape Crisis Scotland 

Provides a national rape crisis helpline and email support for anyone affected by sexual violence, no matter when or how it happened.

Refugee Survival Trust 

Supporting asylum seekers and refugees in Scotland. 

Research Institute for Disabled Consumers (RiDC)

An independent consumer research charity providing free, practical information for disabled and older people about home life and getting out and about, based on independent research.

Provides information, advice, resources and training in the promotion of safety in all areas of life.

SACRO (Safeguarding Communities and Reducing Offending)

Provides a wide range of services spanning all aspects of the community justice continuum. These range from conflict resolution to prevent disputes escalating, to supporting prisoners on release.

 Scottish Hazards

A registered charity whose aim is to reduce injury, ill health and death caused by work/workplaces in Scotland. They provide free and confidential information, advice, support and training to (mainly non-unioinsed) individual employees and groups of employees. A COVID-19 helpline 0800 0015 022 is available for anyone concerned about Covid 19 risks at work including returning to work after, or working through, this global pandemic and needing advice on risk assessment, social distancing, work hygiene and all COVID 19 health and safety concerns.

National money education charity helping people manage their money better. Develop and deliver products and services which provide education, information and advice on money matters in an appropriate way for young people and adults including: everyday money, saving, debt, financial products, planning, students.

The New Well

A charity based in West Lothian that provides help for those going through a challenging phase of life. With the aim of bringing hope and connection, we are here to get alongside people as a friendly support. They currently provide a weekly Job Club, Chatty Tables in local cafes and a Counselling Service.

Information / advice for staying safe when you're on a phone, tablet or computer. Covers different age ranges: 4-7, 8-10, 11-13 and 14+.  Plus Parent / Carer and Children workforce categories.

Victim Support Scotland  

Provides free, confidential support and information, practical help, emotional support and guidance through the criminal justice system. for victims, witnesses and their family members affected by crime across Scotland.
